Fun to come?

I have always been a little conservative with my choice of film. I decided that I wanted to try out some of the different options and went to Silverprint in London. I got a bit carried away!

Should be fun...

Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.

Well at least the HP5 is a known quantity - given how it behaves in 35mm format it should be very spiffy indeed in 120!

I have used the Delta 100 a great deal, and the Kodak BW400CN and Ektar a bit and all are pretty good. I am really looking forward to seeing what Ektar 120 comes out like given how beautifully sharp it is on 35mm. The others are all a bit of an unknown quantity to me. The Rollei Retro 80S 120 roll film ought to be very nice. I got the Neopan 1600 to see if it is any good as a fast option.

I'll be looking for 120 B&W film before long, as I'm after a Bronica ETRSi (looks a very cost-effective route into serious MF gear).

Does anyone still make 220 B&W film which can be processed using normal Ilford chemicals? As I understand it 220 lacks the backing sheet over the entire roll, so more film can be crammed onto the reel giving more exposures compared to 120.

I do, infact I have a few Kodak brownies and VPKs, I must get some and stop using 35mm in them.

As for 828 cameras, they were a mistake and will use 35mm.

You're probably right in staying clear of the odd sizes..

A classic film I have used in the past but I wanted to try out some things I'd never used before like the Rollei retro. I had horrible problems with Tri-X fogging in airport x-rays.

And no Pan-F (whatever anyone says, the best mono film in the world).

I remember when I first used XP2 - still blows me away. Don't worry about exposure, just press the button and it always seems to work. Quite astounding.
