I'm waiting for someone to exhibit a Pentax SLR as a work of art in its own right. The Spotmatic would have had as much impact on photography as those arty LP covers did on music, and it's just utterly perfect to handle and use.

Let's disassemble Mr McLennan, drop Damien Hurst into a vat of formaldehyde, and pour a load of concrete down Tracey Emin's throat.
That would be an exhibition I'd pay to see.
(Just joking, Damo and Trace. Love you really.)

We could get Gunther von Hagens to perform the first. Blame an accident at a formaldehyde plant for the second and just walk her into a building site for the third...Let's disassemble Mr McLennan, drop Damien Hurst into a vat of formaldehyde, and pour a load of concrete down Tracey Emin's throat.

You've come up with some odd posts in the last few minutes...

I rather like it actually, but I'll be really impressed if he can put it back together again.
Dangermouse there were (are?) a few cameras on display at the Science Museum in a sort of 'tech through the years' display. I have some photos somewhere, I have a vague memory of there being a Pentax there

I often think Pentax are missing a trick in not having minty examples of the original three K bodies on display along with their latest range. It'd make for a great demonstration of backwards compatibility when you unclip the 55mm f1.8 from the old KM and fit it to the new K5 without any adapters.

It looks like one of my middle son's projects. He was forever taking things apart to see how they worked, and was rarely able to get them back together.
At least nowadays when he takes something apart he can generally put it back into working order again, though I suspect the Spotmatic in question would defeat him.

If you ever take the bottom plate off a Spotmatic, you will find the camera is very crude mechanically. Like my old Lister diesel, Spotties are reliable by reason of being very much over-engineered, and by being assembled by loving hands.

Mechanically reliable, electronically I'm not so sure! The metering on mine is very idiosyncratic and easily fooled when compared to an MX. A pity, as it's lovely to handle and use aside from that.

Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.
