For me the colours are unnatural. The photos are over processed.

Well, some of the colours look unnatural to me, too. But the colours in a lot of great paintings through the centuries also look unnatural to me. Doesn't stop them being great paintings. We all have different tastes, what works for one person doesn't necessarily work for others. And thank goodness, say I, it drives creativity.

And this is what I mean by this comment....

"You just don't get photography do you?"

Photography is an art form but unatural.... have you never played in the golden hour??? That certain time, of the day, and under certain conditions where the name of it give stuff that golden cast?

These are 3 unedited images....

The colour is there... all I have done is enhanced it.... So the unatural part is way out of i not true. 2 and 5 are also 5 shot HDR merges.

Other people do FAR more "over processing" than i do!!

An art form i deeply personal thing that someone produces... and they also work outside the rules and let the creativity take over. Give me that any day than someone who sticks to the domgatic and contraining rules!

GROVELLING APOLOGY TIME...... ignore the above rant!

I have just been working on some images I shot last night.... I had this the other day to and talked to Rick about it, I have noticed that all my images I upload go darker than they should. I thought I had it sorted but no. I was trying to upload some stuff I took last night and noticed it is doing it again. Rick pointed out about sRGB for the website, and fair enough my K3 was set to Adobe colour.

I have just been fannying with Lightroom and it keeps making my images darker when I go to develop them.... this lead me to look at my K3. I couldn't find what was causing the issue so I thought sod it, and Irest everything!

This cured it..... which means the ham fisted oaf that I am, probably turned something on without noticing.

Only draw back is I now have to reshoot everything I have takin in the last week, and the out till 3am stuff I did last night!! I also lost that glorious light golden dusk with those great highlights and colours!!

Steve and John please accept my humble appology, but please don't ask me to grovel because it will take me 20 minutes to get off the floor!

Before you go dashing off, can you change the colour space in lightroom.
Export as sRGB?

Just a thought

I tried that..... didn't work...

To be honest I don't think it was that this time, because the camera was set to sRGB. It was something else that I couldn't figure out...

Yes I do, film would not be developed in this way to why use a photo cheat to show something that your own eyes do not see it in the same matter, therefore you don't get photography. Simples.

Sorry but this is simply not true....

I have developed my own film. I used lots of techniques to burn in, shimmer, soft focus, use masks I made, all to enhance prints from film. I also ued another plethora of techniques to effect the actual image captured on film.

The images i took the colour is there in the image as I have proved by putting up the unedited images. I captured it, and like many others in photography, use modern techniques to bring it out.

I am sick of people like you branding people like me and others who use modern technics as cheaters...

Do not comment on any of my work from now on, and keep your comments to yourself....

I retract my apology to you, and standby my comment "You just don't get photography do you?"

It's important to remember that we all have our own views on photography and we can't impose them on others as being the correct way and that should all respect the views and techniques of others.

Photography (film or digital) is not an accurate representation of what we see in all respects, and applying tricks, techniques, adjustments can actually bring us closer or further away from a "true" image depending on what we decide. We can all learn from others - we can then use these experiences to expand our knowledge and techniques or we can entrench ourselves into our own views of photography, it really doesn't matter but respecting each others views does matter.

I took a "vacation" from this forum a few years ago when some discussions were disrespectful and verging on cruel - I'd hope we can all get along and give and accept constructive criticism. We don't have to comment on everything, and sometimes I find it is better to say nothing rather than be negative for no good reason. Let's all get along please.

I whole heartedly agree.... and if i see an image I don't like. I do not say something. As it is the photographers choice to take that photo.... what is most important is that if he likes it, who am I to criticise.

I just get sick and tired, now also bored of being called a cheater.....

I always take onboard constructive criticism.... but only when it is genuine and not a smoke screen for someone to hide behind....

I love to learn.... if someone sparks an idea in me... I'll use it
