Autopano Giga 4.4 ,2018 version, is free for download. Used to be a paid for licensed software but the company was bought out and now the software is a free gift.
I was watching this on the latest Keith Cooper video from North light images on YouTube
He has the relative download links and information on the video.

So a sophisticated Panorama stitching software for free.
I downloaded it without any problems on my late 2013 iMac
Looking forward to using this in the future.

Just a heads up to everyone, who doesn't possess any Panoramic software.
Keith Cooper swears by this software for its excellence.
Im unless at links but it is easy to find the video on youtube.

AutoPano Giga is Now Free

If you want to create stunning panoramas with ease, you need to try AutoPano Giga. This software was developed by Kolor, a company that specialized in image stitching and virtual tours. Unfortunately, Kolor closed its doors in 2018, but they left a generous gift for their loyal customers: a free license for AutoPano Giga.
AutoPano Giga is a powerful tool that can automatically stitch multiple photos into a seamless panorama. You can adjust the projection, the horizon, the color balance and more. You can also create 360° panoramas and export them to various formats.
To get started with AutoPano Giga, you need to download the latest version of the software from the links below.
Windows version (Windows 7, 8, 10, 11):
https://download.hdrmaps.com/AutopanoGiga_x64_442_2018-09-10.exe
MacOS version:
https://download.hdrmaps.com/AutopanoGiga_Mac_442_2018-09-10.dmg
Linux version (Debian, Ubuntu)
https://download.hdrmaps.com/AutopanoGiga_Linux64_442_2018-09-10.deb
Linux (All other distros):
https://download.hdrmaps.com/AutopanoGiga_Linux64_442_2018-09-10.tar.xz
Then, you need to enter the following registration details:
User: [email protected]
Registration code: KAPG7-K3A9X-IZJHX-FIIT7-C5IM8-MQF2N
That’s it! You can now enjoy AutoPano Giga for free and create amazing panoramas with a few clicks.
To create panorama just drag photos on the workspace and click green button with label detect.

I spent some time yesterday stitching old non-Pentax images, it works very well and quickly!

And here's a 2 image stitch example which is using Pentax images, Polperro Sail Barn and harbour taken 9 years ago.

Beautiful image Mike...you should upload to the main Gallery...would be a definite POTW contender.

I think i'll have a crack at this software during the week...have never tried stitching images together before...but like the idea.

Thanks for the initial info Flan and to Mike for follow-up.

I installed it OK and got a shortcut on the desktop (Win11). Clicking it produced nothing except for a (very brief) rotating circle thingie. I uninstalled it. Anybody got any suggestions?

This is where I got the file from and it installed fine on my Win 11 laptop:

Windows version (Windows 7, 8, 10, 11):
https://download.hdrmaps.com/AutopanoGiga_x64_442_2018-09-10.exe

On program's first time startup, I just clicked on the Icon it had put on the Windows desktop, then it asked for the registration details and I just put in the information below:

User: [email protected]
Registration code: KAPG7-K3A9X-IZJHX-FIIT7-C5IM8-MQF2N

Subsequently it just ran without needing to re-enter the registration information.

I've only ever used Microsoft's free ICE program for stitching. It works fairly well with the occasional glitch but for some reason has now been removed from official download, though it can still be found. This may be a good alternative.

Thanks to Flan and Mike.
I've had a play today and quickly tried a pano, lost quite a bit in cropping though, I probably need to research more on how to.
The pic is at Mountbatten with the K1 mkII and DFA 24-105 WR at 73mm, f7.1, bit of OOF on the left hand side shot, forgive me that one.
Quite pleased for a rushed PP etc, done on Linux Mint BTW. Have used Hugin before but only a couple of tests on that too, but this looks far more easier, just need the Docs / user manual.

Nice result all the same Loadof,
From my brief researching sometime back, is that professionals as well as ammeters put the camera on a tripod in the portrait position absolutely level in both axis and then proceed to take maybe 6 shots or more with a third overlap in each frame.
The reason for the vertical position it allows more latitude in height for the stitching to align.
You can also do this handheld with maybe 3 frames for a wide angle feel without the curvature
I will be trying handheld first myself and see what I can come up with.
Best of luck Flan

I meant to add Loadof ,to try this technique on a 50mm prime as they are almost distortion free.
