I couldn't make it for the meet, (It's a good 5 hours from home) but I did manage to visit today, spending my lunch hour there on the long way back from Knockhill.
What a fantastic place!
It's getting a little late in the year for dragonflies but there were still some willing to pose for me.
This one seemed particularly co-operative, and at one point landed within inches of my shoulder.

Portmeirion is good. Rhayader has red Kites. Seems like more than a day trip. Fish and chips in Llandudno. As long as the weather holds up.

Llangollen is on my doorstep but is more a landscape trip than a wildlife one.
I was at Rhyader 2.9 but the light was poor and I decided to challenge myself to use my mf 400mm lens - failed
There are Ospreys near Portmeirion but I am not sure about this time of year.
There is the Zoo at Colwyn Bay, that famous forest on Anglesey (name escapes me) where there are red Squiggles knocking around
Don't worry guys the rain doesn't turn cold until around October having said that I have just returned from a week at Burry Port with a sun tan, yes a real one
