Shade for Sheep by tyronet2000
A nice specimen filling the frame and did you notice the baby tree just waiting to catch up in stature. I think some interest is lost in the tones of the canopy, having been flattened by the midday sun.

May Blossom by Frankie
I like the way you have used other Hawthorns as a frame for the main subject. It gives it a sort of 3D effect. I also like the extra colours given by the blossom, flowers and background. I don’t know if it’s the resizing when uploading the image but thought overall it was rather soft focus.
The Dead Centre Of Bouresse by darkskies
A really striking image with interesting sky, the foreground with lots of detail and the off centre main subject dominating. Well processed and I even like the black border in this case. Using the 17-70 at 17mm, maybe a bit of extra processing to correct the verticals?
All about, Carbon. By dougf8
Strong lines in this image and a title with a strong message. However I feel both take you past the subject. Unless, and it could well be, I am missing the point entirely.
Not Just an Ash by Frogherder
Another image with strong lines and this time with some real texture in the bark. If you will pardon the pun! It seems a bit truncated; I would have liked to see more of the canopy. But maybe it was not possible, contre-jour.
***** by WaypointCharlie
The mellow feel and subtle tones of the background contrast well with the bold and stark main subject. Good composition and in this image does appear sharp where it needs to be.
Shady Path by JAK
The portrait format does well in this image to emphasize the height of the trees and this is further reinforced by the relative size of the figures. These figures also draw you down the path into the image, to wonder what is just round the corner. Another thing that struck me about this image is the lack of sky, so you are held in the picture to roam around the shapes and hues. Nice one.
Years to grow - seconds to spare...................by TOZZA27
Almost abstract with the curves, lines and “monochrome” subject against the out of focus background. I thought, when setting the subject, more of this type of shot would appear, due to the wide variety of shapes and colours you can see. I can get away with the highlights in the two corners but the cyan fringing does distract somewhat.
Being my own humble opinion,
In reverse order the results

I'm just back from the English Lake District and noticed how many magnificent, large specimens, of all sorts of trees they have across there.
So I'm looking for anything tree related, could be a single tree, it's bark even a forest.
Usual rules for this Fortnightly Competition. Entries close 18.00 BST. 6th June 2012.
I look forward to your Images.
