Thanks for that Mark, I have to say I was inspired by someone's entry to the Self-Portrait comp a couple of weeks ago...
Unfortunately, there's no way I could have kept any detail in the sky, the contrast range was way too high. Nice train trip though, and it kept us out of the rain for a while.
Right, will have a think about the next theme!

Daniel's did put me in mind of a self-portrait shot, so I'm not surprised it was an inspiration. Lots of entries this week, and Darkmunk picked one of my favourites as the winner. I also liked Lilly's, flat4's, Heidi's and Thordell's.
Well done to Daniel, and Darkmunk too for lots of interesting comments.
The intention was to blur the snail by camera movement. It would have looked better, but I couldn't get it right. Instead it was a frantic half an hour using GIMP, which wasn't enough time really .
So, on to the next one .

Good judging, Daniel's train shot is superb. Some interesting entries all round as well.

Great judging, yes agreed, needs cropping on right a bit, the obvious is not always easy on your own work! Rob & Judith ann's made me hoot, well done to Daniel for a great shot.

Great sense of turmoil here. Beautifully crisp and gorgeous light on the subject. If the competition had been 'Braving the Elements', or 'Summer holidays on the Baltic', this would be right up there, unfortunately, despite the boiling sea, for me the essence of this picture is not movement but more the static figures and the narrative therein. Is the boy crossing his fingers?
