Flowers & the sea

I'm not a flower person, just took the attached two flower images as I was passing whilst walking the dog. Quite impressed with how handy live view was in conjunction with the close focusing capabilities of the Sigma 18-50.

The other two, again had a sit down whilst walking the dog, and got snapping away.

Had real trouble opening these Adrian, but I did manage to see the low angle shot of the wave crashing on the pebbles. Very nice with strong, rich colours.

Live-view with one of those screens which can be pulled out and angled upwards would make a real difference to my photography, I know. I'd rather Pentax made a camera with that feature rather than video which I bet hardly anyone uses!
Best wishes,

Andrew

I like both of the sea shots, of the two flower shots I prefer the second one but.........

.....It is a bit tight on the right-hand side, if you had more room you could try a square crop?

I agree - the sea shots are great, with nicely captured movement - looks like you had a nice day. My only tweak would be to level the horizon in those two shots.

The two shots at the sea are very good. Great capture of the spray, only to be spoiled by the heavily leaning horizon.

Thanks all

Andrew, I think that you're correct with regards to the video capabilities. Guess how many times I've used it on the Kx, yes a big fat zero

I agree with the horizon, and I was quite conscious of the fact when I was taking the pictures (sat on a boulder being shaken by the wind..).
Some came out better then others, I reckon these two are slightly more level (BTW how do you fix the horizon?).

Whilst live view was handy, what I forgot to mention was that in bright sunshine the screen was a bit difficult to view, as was the case with the white flower (not making excuses here BTW ).

Again thanks for all your advice and feedback.

Adrian what software do you use?

PSE has a straighten tool, you can also straighten in Adobe Raw Converter or you can use the crop tool and rotate it to straighten.

Picasa has a straighten adjustment in its basic fixes.

Thanks, I mostly use Lightroom, although I've now taken a second look at Picasa. The straightening tool does indeed seem quite handy

Cheers
