Birding with the 50-135DA*

Well my last offerings here were Macro with the Bigma so how about Birding with the 50-135DA* (at the long end of course)

Snapped this today while looking around Anne Hathaways Cottage, in the garden obviously

this has been edited on my laptop so may not be 100%, not gone through them all yet so I may possibly have a better shot, or more like several more abysmal ones

I reckon you could have got the shot at 50mm ... look at the size of him, he was going nowhere fast

Eye and beak nice and sharp, a good capture.

Oh dear, time to get a new laptop methinks burning out on the leaves, I missed that out of focus leaf on the birds body, and I think it looks a bit fuzzy on the birds back.

It is lovely and sharp. Purely by chance I went off with only the DA* 50-135 to get some birds this morning. It is fantastic if you can get close enough...

I wonder how close we can go ? Anyone have a fisheye shot of a wren perhaps ?

I've got a 10mm shot of a land crab filling the frame, but it's not taken on a Pentax so I can't post it here........

Flying Gannet




live not far down the coast from this huge colony of seabirds at Bempton Cliffs - and these Gannets have a 6 foot (1.8m) wingspan

had my K20D and my old 100-300 SMC Pentax-F lens, soon discovered that its easier to shot large moving birds in manual rather than autofocus

The only time I ever get to Bempton is when I've had a day in Brid or Scarbro' with the wife, and by the time I get there the sun is in the wrong place and the cliffs are in shadow

use a little reverse psychology

start your day trip early, drive past bempton first (pre planned route required) 'oh since i'm here darling!' and park up and snap some feathers.
