You can get 2.5mm stereo jack plugs from Maplin (and sockets too if you want to make an extension lead).
There are plenty of instructions on the 'net - but most of them refer to making up a switch for Nikon (boo, hiss :mrgreen rather than Pentax.
Your biggest problem will be getting hold of 3-core cable.
Ebay abounds with CS-205 rip-offs, and many of them have rather cheap switches (but you would get a 2.5mm plug and cable) or you could buy a used Pentax Cable Switch F (as used on many of the pre-digital AF Pentaxes) and thus be able to use a Maplin plug with the correct cable and a quality switch. There are often Cable Switch Fs on offer here (or you could just post a wanted ad).

I've seen 'mashups' with the radio flash receivers wired into the remote so you can press the transmitter to take a shot. IIRC, the Yonguo flash triggers feature this already.

Thanks to all for responding. Found something akin to MattMatic's link relating to Canon triggers which also related to Pentax. Who'd have thought?
The reason I need this route is that I'm going to do some arty/farty stuff with flying liquids/sliding tables etc. The event will trigger the shutter which will inturn fire the flash rigs. I could theoretically engineer something to press the button on my type F remote when the "event" happened but that would be a real faff and be very difficult to calibrated for the inevitable timing issues.
Thanks all again for your assistance.
Pentax forever.
Eugene.

What I need to do though is the same sort of thing for triggering my shutter (K-7). I have a type F remote but need to rig up a wired switch to trip the shutter when a set of remote contacts are closed.
The question is, can I set up the same simple switch system to fire the shutter as is used to fire a flashgun? Could I perhap abuse a wired cable switch (CS-205) to this purpose? Or, if I can find a supplier of the CS-205 type jack plug, make my own.
Cheers,
Gene-Stevo.
