Flash compatibility

I have just picked up a Pentax Metz Mecablitz 34 AF-3P for a £5 and am wondering if this is compatible for use with a Pentax K-r. Never having used a hot shoe flash before I do not want to risk damaging the camera. Any advice will be greatly appreciated

Many thanks for your response Peter, much appreciated. I had had a look around on the net but could see nothing specific regarding DSLRs. The manual says it was designed for pentax AF film cameras, hence my question.

As it is a TTL (not P-TTL) only unit it will only fire full blast with your Kr.

The only Pentax DSLR bodies that this will work correctly with are the *ist D and *ist DL.
