Don't be sorry Michael, these pictures are posted to test the varying opinions of other photographers. I just wish more people were taking part. My idea behind No.3 was the pattern caused by this store with advertising posters in the windows, four squares, two of them with poster faces and one with actual people passing by and one fairly blank. Just a daft idea.

Nice to hear your thinking behind this shot David, I don't think it's up to your usual standard though.
I agree, where are all the others' opinions?
Come on folks

The Connoisseur

A couple of years ago when the Turner Prize short listed candidates were exhibited at The Sage Centre for Contemporary Art, Gateshead, some members of Durham Photographic Society were given permission to freely photograph them. Here I selected part of a video installation by artist Hillary Lloyd and waited for a suitable figure to appear.

Early steam

This completes my five in a row - I've PM'd another member inviting him to take over the next five. I've not a reply as yet. If he's unavailable I'll ask someone else.

There have been no comments, but I really like those last two. The art shot is quirky and says something about art that would not have been far adrift from the ethos of the Doctor Who story "City of Death".
The train shot is just brimming with steam power, a glorious, commanding shot in powerful monochrome.
Terrific stuff.

I like No. 4 an interesting shot as it seems as if he's looking at the blank wall.
Is the wall more interesting than the art?
No. 5.....great atmospheric shot, I can almost smell the steam! I wonder if a slight crop of the right side would improve it

I invited David Storm to take over the next 5-in-a-row and he kindly agreed.

Could I make a suggestion before I post the first of my 'five in a row' tomorrow? I think we should start a new thread for each set of 5 images, otherwise it will extremely difficult for people to focus on the latest set of 5 as the thread will become too long and too full of images.
What does everyone think?
Regarding your set of five David, I think they are all of high quality but for me number 4 stands head and shoulders above the rest. The graphical nature of this image suits your black and white processing perfectly and the whole composition and atmosphere of the shot is just great.

By all means start a new thread, I was a bit surprised that nobody has so far done that.

I agree about a having a new thread for each set of five. I asked Ken what he thought and like me he hadn't really considered it until then. At the time I thought it would be tidy to keep the project altogether, but now its obvious that eventually this could have become a marathon of Pointless Thread proportions.
