Five in a row: Kris' (womble's) go

Without going into the emotions they evoke, I think the Nik Effex version has more impact as a photograph.

A bit late but loving number 1! Have a very similar image from years ago, taken on the steps of the casino in Monaco but with a non-Pentax (and rubbish) camera.

Did you by any chance take one from the other side and facing the opposite direction? The ball is blocking a lot of interesting subjects and it would have been interesting to see the inverse of that image.

The backside of that thing is just a blank disk, it is a big circular slightly dished mirror. The other way around would have had the harbour and Sydney Opera house in it!

Thanks, Kris.

The second version of the grave shot works better for me Kris. The flowers stand out more from the background and the muted colour gives it a faded, sad atmosphere.

Super form and texture in this one. Kris.
Best wishes,

Number 2 for me is my preference from the first two images and I like the hint of colour in the second version. The first shot is certainly very intriguing, but doesn't hit my hot button like the second image does.

A great start to the five.

The second version of no.2 is superb, the hint of colour in the flowers gives (me) the impression that the flowers are dying, adding to the impact of the image

Even later to the party after somehow managing to miss the kick-off...

I stared long and hard at the first shot before twigging that it was a reflection, rather than a composite. Great idea, but to my eye the contrasting elements don't really work as a whole. If we all carried giant mirrors, as well as tripods, the creative potential would be huge.

I like both versions of shot #2, but agree with those who feel the subtle colour adds a certain something. Either way, its an image that's beautifully simple and very striking.

Second version for me Kris. It really stands out.

Very black and white!

I like the fact that the snow is almost washed out, excepting a small amount of detail around the animal's feet. You have also managed to keep detail in the texture of the coat as well.

Bedraggled, forlorn, lonesome, why me, shuck it’s cold, glad I didn’t get a trim last week.

I’ve no choice being here but why on earth would a bloke come out in this weather and point that at me?

Doesn’t he know the pub down the road is open and the log fire is lit?

Great work.

Best regards

I just knew we would get a different outlook on photography from your "Five in a Row", and I'm not disappointed.

This is my favourite so far. Like a silhouette, but with detail.

Another 'Different' shot and so good, probably about as well exposed as you could get.
One for the wall, I would say

Concur with all the above. Miserable failure has taught me how tricky it can be to nail exposure in a contrasty, snowy landscape, but this is an object lesson in the art. Lovely detail in the equine clothing, too.

Look forward to the next instalment,
