First Photo K10D

Using the DA 50-200mm and K10Ds built in flash.

PEF developed in Lightroom, minor adjustments only to sharpening and black clipping and removal of chromatic aberrations (tiny fringing at 200mm only visible on full sized image).

All opinions and critique welcome

Stunning subject and very nice composition. It looks a little underexposed and perhaps a tad too soft/unsharp, but that's personal preference.

Excellent first attempt with your K10D.

Is that perhaps a dust particle stuck to your sensor?

Clipping out the dark regions caused the reds to darken and look a little underexposed, especially on the lower two flowers. It probably was not necessary, in fact going back now to look at it unedited it is better.

This is what happens when you like to play with a Development or Editing program too much.

Had a look at it on my PDA just to see what it looks like on an other screen and it was ridiculously dark. :S Anyone else see a very dark image? It is fine on my screen and when printed... :S

It's very dark on my screen too, a 1680 x 1050 Mac. In fact I can hardly make
out the text at the bottom of the picture.

I don't have the same problem with any of the recent picture-posts on other
threads, B&W or Colour .

Not very dark, but looks a bit dimmer than the average 'good' picture does on my PC LCD monitor. I would punch it up a little bit.

Yes : it's dark on my Time computer too; couldn't see the red writing at first.

Hmmm... It is fine on my screen... well off to 'fix' it. Really confused about that.

Ok, replaced the original uploaded file so the picture should now be ok. Please tell me if it is still not showing correctly as the histogram was ok, as was the exposure on the original shot.

Bear in mind the background is supposed to be black...


EDIT: Argh! Forgot to remove the small CAs, not that you can see it in the 800x5xx pic above.

Someone's going to tell me it is too bright now...

Looks fine to me now.

I can see the text and a good colour range from black through
reds and pinks to just about white.

Well its not a mind blowing competition winning shot, but apart from that I think its just fine as it is, probably couldn't have done any better myself.
