Very nice set, and great performance at high ISO from the k7. Like the reflection of the lights on the water in the last shot.

Looks promising Gary. How fast is 'very fast'? Would love to hear your thoughts on how it compared to your old banana 16-50, and a screwdrive 18-55 if you have one of those.

Nice lens, nice straight lines on image no three. Just out of interest did you use any noise reduction software? If I push my K-7 above 400 iso the noise makes the image useless.

Wow. Really like those shots. Was any NR used in PP or are these straight out of the camera? I have to ask I've seen noisier shots come out of my K-5 at ISO 3200 - although that may be just because I was photographing darker scenes which make the noise more obvious.

Thanks for the comments. Very small noise reduction with Neat Image. I'll post the first and last again without noise reduction. Originals were not bad as there is was enough light.
The focus does seem faster than the 16-50 but not by a huge amount. Maybe due to this lens having a small focus throw?
I did get two "into sun" sunset shots, no flare, I'll post one as well.
Am I pleased with it? Yes, the stabilisation is effective. Odd to see it work through the viewfinder on a Pentax. I might just switch the in body system on at the same time to see what happens---BANG?
Best regards

First and last shots without NR.

When I do use NR, it is very low.
I am happy with the results. I may have a sensor/body/mount snag on the K7 as that sign of vignetting in the top left corner was also there on the 16-50 Pentax (actually a bit more due to the wider view).
Anyway, not the end of the world.
Best regards

They didn't appear to be overly noisy even before NR was applied - nice work.

Very nice shots !
I was looking at this and the Tamron 17-50/2.8, I ended up with the Tamron (no regrets) because the Sigma wasn't in stock anywhere I could physically get my hands on it and I couldn't wait !

Taken from Lenstip.com:
"The Sigma 17–50 mm is not a flawless device but neither are so its most serious competitors which are more expensive. The Nikkor overall seems to be an optically better lens but it is much more pricey than the Sigma and doesn’t feature image stabilization. The optics of the Sigma and the Canon are very similar – both boast silent and quick autofocus mechanism and stabilization. Sigma’s advantage consists of a better warranty and a bit lower price.
For the Sony Alfa system reflex cameras users the Sigma 17-50 mm can be a very interesting suggestion because Sony doesn’t offer such a lens in its line-up so the competition is definitely less fierce. It won’t be so easy in the case of Pentax because the 16-50 mm f/2.8 model from that company tempts with a wider angle of view although it is optically worse and more expensive than the Sigma.
To sum up the Sigma 17–50 mm f/2.8 EX DC OS HSM will find many satisfied users for sure. It would be difficult not to be satisfied when you can take photos as good as or even better than the brand name competitors using a cheaper lens".

These are just grab shots, I'll be out at the weekend with the lens to see what its like in daylight. It focuses very fast, feels smooth and looks OK-typical Sigma finish.
C&C welcome
