Finding the raw DNG converter for Pentax K-5 - Help!
David
Surely though, it must be possible to get what came with the camera from somewhere?
Also, wouldn't any newer version of Silkypix (https://silkypix.isl.co.jp/en/) handle the K-5's files?

There is a method of installing the software from the download from the Ricoh website that involves renaming an SD card so that it appears to the OS as a CD. I am sure someone will remember a link and post it here .....

Pentax K7 with BG-4 Grip / Samyang 14mm f2.8 ED AS IF UMC / DA18-55mm f3.5-5.6 AL WR / SMC A28mm f2.8 / D FA 28-105mm / SMC F35-70 f3.5-4.5 / SMC A50mm f1.7 / Tamron AF70-300mm f4-5.6 Di LD macro / SMC M75-150mm f4.0 / Tamron Adaptall (CT-135) 135mm f2.8 / Asahi Takumar-A 2X tele-converter / Pentax AF-540FGZ (I & II) Flashes / Cactus RF60/X Flashes & V6/V6II Transceiver
As to free DNG converters, didn't know there were any. Had a quick look and found some DNG to JPEG converters, but I was after TIFF.
I thought that the DNG format was generic. If so, wouldn't many of the free tools work with it?
Also, wouldn't any newer version of Silkypix (https://silkypix.isl.co.jp/en/) handle the K-5's files?

I find it hard to believe that it wouldn't just be a free download from Pentax, because it is effectively part of the camera, you cannot use it with other cameras, and you cannot fully operate the camera without it. I have a version of Silkypix that came with a GX-20, and it will not read the Pentax files - because, again, it is supplied with that particular camera. That one is a free supported download.
Instead of being hellbent on one particular course, why not tell us exactly what you need the software for, or want to achieve with it. There will be plenty of other free alternatives.

You beat me to it, I had the same problem....... no CD/DVD no software.....ridiculous in this day and age IMO .

The splash screen for the utility says 'powered by Silkypix'.

When I had the Samsung equivalent of the K20D (GX20), I just downloaded the raw converter (Silkypix) from the Samsung website and it was fine. It was the version specifically for that camera.
Doesn't seem so simple with Pentax - I cannot find where to get it from. The only one I could find on Ricoh-Pentax's site (Silkypix for Pentax Developer Studio 3.0) was not for the K-5, and having tried it, it will not open K-5 DNGs "Cannot read unsupported camera file".
Does anyone know ehere I can get a copy from that will work? I don't want to buy the full version of Silkypix, I just want whatever would have come with the camera.
