Finchale this morning

A quick run up to Finchale Priory this morning to make the most of the snow.













Coffee shop was open so all went well with a toasty and a coffee.

Very fond of this place. I was born and raised in Rhodesia and on arriving in England as a child I lived in the summer months in the caravan site at Finchale. Hours of endless fun were had in the woods. The bridge then was a toll bridge, a halfpenny to cross, with a woman in a booth at the entrance. My brothers and I were small enough to get past her window unseen by crouching down. We could have never afforded all the tolls otherwise as we crossed multiples times a week to venture off into the woods.
Winter is a good time to get shots from up in the woods as it's so much easier to see the buildings.
