Following on with Petekd's theme a bit here are a couple I took today with K10D.

It's the first time the sun has been out in weeks so I made the most of it.

Honest opinions welcome please

Rodger,

You live in a lovely part of the world.

On my monitor, these lack contrast, and are also a bit big. I think tomorrow you need to get up a bit earlier and take advantage of the old saying:

"The early 'tog' catches the light."

I feel that the first pic can't make up its mind whether the subject should be the nice old house over the bridge, or the bridge itself.

The second is a bit over-grown. Perhaps some cropping is in order.

The third is potentially the best, but better light is required. Early morning or dusk, not 11:31am.

Thanks George
I've shrunk them a bit now so if you go Ctrl+F5 whilst reading this they should be easier to view.

Don't look too bad on mine contrast wise (explorer can make images look a bit flat) but good point - I'd have done better with the early moring light

Problem is getting out of bed earlier

I'll have another go at the bridge some time and see if I can get shot over bridge with house at end of path - might try sitting on the wall out of shot right

I wonder if you could use a slightly wider lens and fill the frame with the bridge. It's strong enough to be the whole picture.

I'll give it a go with the 17mm and keep my feet out the way

Problem is it's at the bottom of those steps - 1:3 for about 1/2 mile; I'm still out of breath from this mornings stroll up/down them.

I also think (IMHO) that I am better at wild life and flowers than buildings and bridges (never seem to get the quite right somehow - but that's why I'm practicing on them
Here's a couple of what I think are my better shots :

Nice pics Roger

I like the first bridge picture its busy but keeps you exploring the photo, shame the one house is sloping, i guess thats not your photography but rather the house itself.

The photos of the iguana seem a little out of focus, it would have been a good shot other wise, The flower looks a lot better a little bright in the white areas but that might be my PC LCD screen.

These are just personal opinions and peobably not worth much

Hi Pete
Thanks for the feedback - always useful and valued

I know what you mean by the house - Think it's how its built but will have another look. Did try using Silkypix to straighten it but with only limited sucess.

Had a problem with the flower - the centre is very white but needed exposure for the petals.Believe all the detail is there so might have a go as Photoshoping it. On my PC I can see the pink reflection of the petals on the white centre

I think they are all great shots - though I do agree the bridge seems a bit overscale.

Note to self - must try harder

Graham
Keep up the good work

I'll think of something someday.

Rodger, I like the pictures. Approach the bridge from the other side of the river, it will save all those steps and you can park at the top of the hill.
Also you will have a lovely view over the valley.

Ah another Wiltshire camera boy.

The other side is fine but cars get broken into a lot - its pretty deserted over there.

But the view of the valey is good - need a nice misty morning like today to do it. Except I'm at work
