fa lens on my k5

Does anyone know why when i have taken a photo with either the 28-200 or 80-320, that are both pentax fa lenses, on my k5 the image shows up on the screen for review almost immediately yet takes a couple of seconds with any da lenses i have?

That's interesting, image appears instantly when no card is present too...

Just tried it on my K7. I have the 320 and a kit da 18/55 and both take the same amount of time to appear on the screen, a second or so.

I had the same strange processing time difference with my Pentax 18-250mm and another lens. I can't remember which lens it was and which was the fast one and which was the slow one. Someone did explain it, but I can't remember what they said. So all in all not a lot of use except that I was told it was completely normal and nothing to worry about

My guess is you've enabled lens correction on the camera

The DA lenses are "known" and will be corrected for distortion and CA but the older FA lenses will just save immediately (because the camera won't be know the correction details).

Personally, I do all the corrections in LR anyway from RAW and so leave in camera correction turned off
