his stuff is imported from the states so it's grey. He lives in the USA and it's all shipped to his sister in Scotland who then posts it out.
He covers the warranty himself if the manufacturer refuses to repair any items he sells (and from his feedback on TP he does just that).

Thinking a little into the future and the possible arrival of a Pentax FF I have read that lenses designed for film might not perform quite so well on digital, unfortunately as pentax have never had FF digital there's no user data to go on so is it possible this might turn out to be an expensive gamble?

I think it is almost certain that many film lenses, particularly wide ones will be disappointing. The light will strike the sensor at the wrong angle

Yes, that's exactly what I've read...I'm definitely coming to the conclusion that a move away from Pentax when I eventually go with FF makes sense, at least there's plenty of user experiences out there for other marques. It seems as though buying Pentax legacy glass to use on any new FF could be a bit of a guessing game

Digitally-designed lenses have a telecentric design. This means that light rays are parallel when they exit the rear element. The light thus falls squarely into the pits on the sensor surface that hold the individual pixels.
Some film designed lenses will work very well, especially from short telephoto onwards. Some won't, especially the wider angles.
The Pentax experience is already there and indicated very well by their approach to the 645D. By and large the existing 645 lenses have been kept, but the wide angle and macro have received new updated designs. I would expect that any "FF" Pentax system would do the same. Pentax are not going to release a system camera without any lenses to use with it.
There's nothing to fear about this and I will just wait and see what actually happens before making any decisions. The only thing I can say at the moment is that I am very unlikely to want to move to a FF system of any kind.
PS This all presumes that the sensor used in a Pentax FF camera still had pits in its surface. It's always possible that new sensor designs could render telecentric design requirements as obsolete.

Any full frame camera Pentax release will need to have a crop mode enabling the use of the current DA lens line-up. May not be ideal but at least it would allow the release of such a camera without having to re-engineer loads of lenses from the outset.
It would certainly be the sensible way to go about things ... but then this is Pentax we are talking about and they seem to have their own interpretation of the word.
