Exif information in CS3?

I just started using bridge and CS3. Since I started using this, it seems that my EXIF data gets lost. I can see it in bridge, but it does not seem to follow the image past that. Does anyone using CS3 have this problem?

I don't. I edit photos (JPG and RAW), and the EXIF survives all the edits without my having to do anything.

I don't know if it's relevant, but I don't use Bridge.

Perhaps you could describe your workflow in more detail to see if there are any clues.

I was actually losing the data after to made smaller jpeg images for the web. Someone just suggested to me that it was because I used the "save for the web" tool on CS3 and that stripped it of the data. If that is what is happening, the problem is that I don't know another way to save them for the web. If I take my tiff images and try to resize them to the correct pixel size without that function, and the go to the drop down, I am not even seeing a choice for jpeg.

How else would I resize them?

This is what I do:

Bring pictures into bridge from memory card.

Open raw in Camera Raw and do adjustment sliders.

When completed, save as PSD, and open in CS3.

Do basic adjustments, then Tone and color (brightness/contrast, levels, color balance, saturation as adjustment layers).

Then I do image cleanup in another layer.

next duplicate background layer and do shadow/highlights

Next curves in adjustment layer

I save the image with the layers in case I want to work on it some more.

Then, I flatten, resize, sharpen, and save as a TIFF file.

I want some to post on the web, so I use the "save for the web" option. It gets saved as a smaller jpeg.

When I was using PS 6, I was not using the save for the web option, and if I posted on the web, my EXIF data would come along with it.

I was going to try to resize without using the option, but can't find a way to do so.

Hi Ava

CS3's "Save for Web" function strips the exif data from the image. The reason you may not be seeing the "jpg" option in a normal save as is usually because you are working with 16bit files, change the file to 8bit in the image/mode menu then you shopuld be able to select jpg when selecting "Save As".
Cheers
Brian.
LBA is good for you, a Lens a day helps you work, rest and play.

I have made an ACTION in CS3 of 'resize, 72dpi; 800 wide; save as jpg to a folder I have made up for images to web, it works for me and is a very quick for sending pics to forums.
I am really getting into ACTIONS now and rely on them a bit.

cheers Lilly

I was just working on leaning how to set up actions last night. I tried to set one up for resizing. I am going to try it tonight and see if what I tried to set up actually works!
