Storage space with raw files?

Since I started to work with RAW images, I have found that my desktop space is getting used up very quickly. I am backing up to an external hard drive. I am feeling like I eventually need to clean out my internal hard drive, but would like a second place to store them. I was wondering what others do. Should a get another external hard drive, or maybe start burning them to either CD's or DVD's? I am feeling a little unorganized at this point...

I always back them up to DVD. Important ones also go onto CD-R for photos from Fuji, as well as onto an external harddrive. When I am done with them I remove them from the main computer. PSE6 keeps a track of them all for me.

I have a Freecom 500Gb network drive - which was pretty reasonably priced. I keep duplicates of the images on drives at two sites.

(I did start also backing up to DVD as well, but tend not to trust them 100%)

Make sure you only back up to DVD Rs as re-writable CDs and DVDs data deterates with time due to the nature of the dye used.

Thank you. I think I will buy a second external drive, plus start burning them to DVD's. I will be sure to get the R.

I have a seperate hard drive which all my data is backed up to once a week, and every now and then I'll burn a dvd or two of new photos.

As I'm not a professional, I don't always shoot in RAW - and when I do I tend to just keep the best shots uncompressed, run the others through PS and save them as JPEGs, as they take up significantly less space
Very much an amateur.
