Hey Everyone

So, last week I had a bit of a shock. After going to bed I got a pressing pain in the top of my chest, into my neck and and the top of my arm. I just assumed it was indigestion or muscle pain since I was exhausted at the time, but my Fiancee Catherine wanted to err on the side of caution and check with 111 helpline. They of course sent an ambulance assuming the worst even though the pain had subsided. Anyway I ended up being taken to A&E at 1:30AM in the morning, told I'd had a heart attack and had 2 stents inserted into one artery. I've been back at home just over a week now, feeling fine and working with the cardiac unit on exercise plans etc. so all is good.

So where is the silver lining in this story and why the post?

Well having just picked up my new K-1 I was just starting to get out and take some photographs again after a bit of a stale period, when the attack happened (who know's maybe it was the shock of a FF from Pentax finally in my hands lol). Now I have to take 3-4 weeks off work and make sure I do some exercise so I thought sounds like a great opportunity to get out and do some photography (albeit not climbing to the top of Snowden for a sunrise).

Inspired by Papa_Lazaro trip to Wrest Park, I wondered if anyone who lives around the west midlands, or reasonably close, fancies meeting up for a little photo expedition. I seem to have plenty of time on my hands which is very unusual for me

Best Wishes
Andy

What some people will do to get some time off work to play with a new camera!
Glad to hear you are on the mend!

I echo JR's sentiments with a speedy recovery. Did they say what brought it on?

Glad you've been 'fixed' and hope that the recovery goes well! You will now find that all the really nice things to eat are bad for you!!
Enjoy the enforced exercise

Well, it was often said that going full frame was not without its risks ... Not what you expected and I can only imagine how scary that must have been.

Sounds like you've had the right treatment and know what to do from here, and lucky you that the recovery plan can involve the new K1! Wishing you lots of happy photography on your way back to a healthy heart.

Hi, sorry to hear of your illness, but well done to your partner for taking action.

I'm in Warwickshire too and having what you term a stale period, so I would be interested. Unfortunately I have to work, but only four days a week, so I'm free on on Mondays and sometimes at the weekend.

Either post on here or pm me to arrange something. I have contacts with local morris dance teams, who are active at weekends and some week day evenings at this time of year, if that appeals.

Good to hear your OK Andy, take it a day at a time, don't rush your recovery.

I speak from experience, the exact same happened to me a couple of years ago, the silver lining is, if you follow the medical advice your life will be that much better,
Cheers
Brian.
LBA is good for you, a Lens a day helps you work, rest and play.

Been there, got the stent and can confirm that there is life in plenty afterwards.
We spoke a little while back about having bash at Coventry but I am in the" fortunate" spot of having more work than I know what to do with right now.
Keep taking the pills !
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass

Wish you all the best and a very relaxing recovery, Snowdon might be out of reach at the minute but not necessarily in the near future. Take it easy and enjoy your recovery period. (and listen to the Docs)

Thank you for all the good wishes, I appreciate all who took the time to reply.

I'd definitely be interested in a Coventry / Midlands meet up and happy to try and organise something if there is enough interest ?

Cheers
Andy
