Juxtaposition, textures - more than one of the past competition subjects are present in this excellent photo. I love the crisply sharp detail on the nearest elephant 'juxtaposed' against the OOF elephants further away.
Gareth, juxtaposition isn't just about opposites, its about the placing of one subject in the context of another and the relationship of one to the other. Composition and positioning are just as important as contrasts here.

Thanks for the comments, folks. As for juxtaposition - I'm with David here. it doesn't have to be opposites, though there is likely to be some sort of contrast. Anyway, as explained in the comp thread I really am open to any (reasonable) interpretation in the hope of encouraging participation.

Taken with the K20D + DA17-70 at an elephant sanctuary near Colombo. It's slightly cropped, though I did have to get up very close with the limited focal range. Might have thought twice about this if I'd read my guide book before. Apparently the elephants have charged in the past! Though this one seemed pretty happy having her photo taken. In fact, I could have sworn she was actually posing.
