Dust in the lens

Dear All,

I have a problem with a very noticeable piece of dust inside my Mk1 18-55 mm kit lens. It is stuck on one of the inside (inaccessible) elements, about 1/3 of the way from the top of the viewfinder.

Has anybody managed to dislodge similar or have you resorted to opening up the lens yourself?

How much would a lens "technician" charge to do the same job and would this be comparable with the replacement cost for the lens.

Funny that I was looking at a 16-45 a few weeks ago!

I bet it has no perceptible effect on IQ but understandably really annoys you

I striped a Nikon lens once and guess what?? I had to send it to Nikon for repair as I C*CKED it up. It cost me £80 a few years ago now..

I once had dust in my SMC-FA 24-90 and thought about using an anti-static gun (from the LP record days) - but didn't in the end (didn't want to pop the EEPROM memory in the lens! )

The lens got sorted... it got dropped, and repaired on insurance (around £150 to sort out! Yikes!)

It almost certainly won't make much (or any) difference in the final image anyway
