I'm a huge dog lover ( Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww ) so will support a project for snapping dogs
My gut reaction for this set is that it doesn't work in B&W even though a couple work in B7W on their own.
I think Thailand in particular is so Charismatic in it's colours and that's another reason for by gut reaction.
I hope none of those Thai Dogs ended up being lunch for someone.

Hi, I do like the focus on dogs and I would like to try it myself.
I think some of the scenes are too busy for B&W. The dogs in the pics tend to blend in too much with B&W instead of standing out. I assume the dogs were all different colours and so this would distinguish them from their surroundings.
But having said that, because of the contrast with their surroundings I think the 2 temple shots work nicely.

I would have to use colour if I met Lady GaGa in her pink heels and holding her pink poodle eh...
Anyway, I do still think about using colour for this project so thanks for the comments likewise. If I were to do so i'd try to mimic a Kodachrome look, I am still a film fan and can't abide straight up colour that digital produces...

Again, this is another straight Jpeg from the GR. The image setting again is a Hi-Contrast one with a -2 contrast applied in camera.
I really do prefer the Jpegs this camera produces they're grittier and very film-like, and slightly more akin to what the small sensor GRDIV's produced in regard to that gritty and dirty feel...
Sublime for the street...

It is an illusion that photos are made with the camera… they are made with the eye, heart and head. Henri Cartier-Bresson
Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.

I've looked a little closer at your photos and have noticed some nice detail.
#3-is that a stuffed badger in the window?
#5-what is for sale in the background?
#6-the poodle is tied to that thing! surely it doesn't run behind it?
#10-dog has a life jacket on, cool!
#11-is that some sort of dog painting/symbol on the wall?
More to the pics than first meets the eye, nice.

Hey Deryn, I don't like to tell people but I look out for and try to include analogy in my photographs. It's something that interests me a lot, things are similar yet dissimilar, it could be the least little thing.
Ie, in
#1 - the dog's legs and spires on the temple roof...
#2 - front foot forward, for the man it's his left and for the dog his right...
#3 - dog has plastic box of water below and potted plant at his head, the badger has wooden box below and potted plant at head, both looking back...
#5 - The motorcycle has angle graphics on it's cowling while the poodle has his collar/ harness running the same way. I liken his legs to the forks on the bike too.
#7 - The mottled white painted bannister is similar to the mottled patterns of the dog's fur...
#9 - Person and dog relaxing and looking opposite ways...
#10 - The prow of the boat and it's blackened rope is similar to the muzzle of the dog, both at the same distance from they're posts looking opposite ways...
#11 - The wall has a leashed dog graphic while the leashed dogs look on...

I must admit, I have been scouring your photos for details such as you've mentioned above. Your photos draw and invite the eye in.

Nice set of photos and relaxed looking pooches ! Good idea for a project and I might do it myself at a horse show !!! I particularly like #1 and #8 and I think they work well in b&w.

I think you'd be concentrating on where to put your feet before you threw that stone, no?
In Thailand the dogs are loose but I never saw any crap, anywhere...

Anyway, my main inspiration was Elliott Erwitt and his book DOGDOGS. Along with shooting these dogs I try to look for and include some analogy to make the images work on an additional level...
The first 10 images are all taken with my old K20D, the last one was taken today...with my RICOH GR.
