I like it

I don't usually respond to these as I do not feel that I am well placed to be critical of others photo's constructively or otherwise - just thought I would clarify why I go quiet with these

I like the composition very much. The colours seem a little too bright to be natural, but otherwise it's very good.

The symmetry is nice, softened by the framing from the foliage, and the bench in particular is really clever, since it implies the presence of the watcher.

Pleasant scene and composition, but it all looks to bright to me. the trees across the water look 2 dimensional, like they are printed on a large cardboard cut out. Try notching it down 1/2 a stop.

One suggestion from a club competition judge was to throw a stone into the water to get some ripples circling out.

I like it very much Alistair. Composition is great, the atmosphere is very nice and I don't think it needs any ripples in the water. It would have been perfect with someone sitting on the bench at the right (self timer?) and I do agree with the comments made on the trees in that they look a little too bright and not quite natural in colour. If this were mine I would tone the trees down a bit and increase the shadow depth in the tree areas to give them more definition.

Overall though it is a very good landscape image that I would have been proud to have taken.

Try adding some smooth vignetting that would help remove the 2D effect and add some depth.

Castlewellan?

I like it. Under the bench seems strangely monochrome- perhaps the result of a little overexposure?

Hi Dpm - yes it is indeed.

Under the bench is new concrete so i think its came out a little glazed
