DL2 Custom Settings

Hi All I,ve had my DL2 since last August and i am enjoying it very much but some of the custom settings confuse me as i don,t really understand what a few of them mean. And i was wondering what settings the majority of users are set up to. I mainly use aperture priority and shoot in raw. Here is a list of those interesed in. Exposure steps (1/2 or 1/3) Link AF Point and AE (on or off) Meter operating time (3,10,30 secs) AE-L with AF locked (on or Off) AE-L button on M exposure Plus any other info would be greatly appreciated Thanks Richard

But i forget to mention the P (program) setting how does it actually work.

The DL2 has 5, but still only allows wide and spot. TBH though even on my K10D I leave it on spot nearly all the time, so you're not missing a lot.

P mode on the DL2 is just "normal" program, it picks aperture and shutter speed for you, everything else is up to you. The DL2 doesn't have hyper program so you have no control over which aperture/shutter combination it picks. For this reason I rarely use it, prefering Av mode which gives more control and nearly as much automation. P mode is good if you are shooting targets of oppotunity in rapidly changing light conditions though.
