I don't think it worked either. Way too gloomy although there was some potential there. The composition looked OK but the exposure was always going to be a problem and compromise.

Perhaps I misunderstood the OP. I thought the "Did it work?" was referring to "Does the image show?", which it doesn't. I haven't reviewed the image.
EDIT: Now I have, and I agree with mikew, way too gloomy & dark. Maybe it can be rescued though.

that was what i was asking mannesty 'did it show' but i was actually trying to get the photo up of my london skyline not the tree i totally agree with you on that one but cant seem to make it better

You won't like them
Personally and this very personal
Lose the vignette
Clone out the metal sign at foot of tree
Then the big problem is the second tree behind the bank
Normally I wouldn't think of cloning it out but given the sepia conversion which does look nice you might get away with it with oodles of patience!
I can see what attracted you to the tree it's a great shape
Looking at your other photographs you have some lovely shots in there, Reeds, Run Freely, Woolich amongst others. You quite like frames don't you? I can't stand them but I guess they are effective sometimes.

You can use the image button anywhere in the text to enclose a url to display an image in a post. It just takes a couple of goes to get it to work.
I don't think the skyline is anywhere near as good as some of your other shots.

Coriander - I hope you won't be hurt but I prefer Ems version!
I would hope she could draw a little more out of the sky and get some light into the buildings but from what has been said I think Ems is well pleased with the effect obtained originally.
