I haven't watched the video but does he imply the D-FA* is a Tamron copy, when in fact it is a bonafide Pentax design?

I don’t think so. However he is comparing raw dng. files from the K1 with whatever files a 36mp Sony with the Tamron export without seeing how they post process and which could give very different results.

I have to say and I've not had mine very long, I'm very pleased with the results, heavier than my Sigma equivalent, but the results are superb.

It is a fantastic lens , well deserving of the star appellation.
The reviewers technique is flawed from start to finish

I had accumulated quite a long list of subscribes on YouTube but have recently culled almost all of them including Cameraville. The equipment review sites in particular get obsessional with pixel peeping and worrying about how fast focusing and frame rates are and I have realised that in reality very little of this actually matters. I recall one point he made comparing a Pentax and others with long lenses for birds in flight shots and he noted that although the K1 had the slowest frame rate and allegedly inferior autofocus the results showed it had more keepers because at faster frames per sec the tracking autofocus couldn’t keep up. This highlights the difference between results on paper and use in the field but also the increasing reliance on equipment performing a given task. My preference now are those channels and magazines concentrating on the art of photography rather than technique and technology; as an analogy I think of enjoying a walk in the countryside rather than how I got there, the car did its job and I have been driving for so long I don’t have to concentrate on how I change gears and steer. That’s how it should be with photography.

He has fallen out with Pentax, because as he stated in a previous video , he had failed to get the numbers for his channel, and the problem was Pentax
And was somehow convinced , that he is entitled to support from Pentax. Whatever that may be.
He now has a deliberate anti Pentax bias .As such his videos are no longer worth watching.
He has lost another subscriber.

Modern cameras and lenses are so good, that they have to do that to remain relevant and in work. The equipment review sites in particular get obsessional with pixel peeping and worrying about how fast focusing and frame rates are and I have realised that in reality very little of this actually matters.
That said, I've never bought a brand new camera, and only one brand new lens, so I'm probably not in their target audience anyway...

Wow, he doesn't like the 70-200 , I stopped when he started slagging forum members for posting 'great' images but were oversharpened and with a pop up sign stating amateurs. Definitely has a bee in his bonnet about focus breathing and lack of compression at 200mm MFD. Each to his own I suppose. Ex Pentaxians seem to become like ex smokers in their zealotry.

Well Cameraville has just done his last Pentax video. Interesting concept, use Pentax and its loyal users to gain enough visibility to gain momentum and hits, then shift to Sony or others.

CameraDeLudicrous, that channel is an embarrassment to the brand.
Specifically, the 70/200dfa is an excellent piece of gear,I own it,I use it.Its worth the Kidney I sold to get it.
A poor tradesman blames his tools for shoddy work,LI said he was discontinuing Pentax reviews a month ago but he just keeps the verbal Diarrhea coming. He can't be believed but some do?

I didn't see the original 'crit' on this lens on You Tube but I do own a DFA*70-200mm f2.8 and its without any doubt the 'best' Pentax lens I've ever used - and that includes even my beautiful DA*50-135mm 2.8 zoom. Seemingly the You Tube reviewer compares it unfavourably with the similarly specified Tamron. Well its certainly heavier than the Tamron and more expensive but I think the Pentax, at least my copy, edges ahead on quality. A generous friend of mine allowed me to borrow his Tamron before I made a final decision on which lens to buy and the Tamron is certainly a fine lens but I reckon the Pentax is better.
