Apparently so according to photorumors.

I wouldn't be surprised if, for a lens like this, they produced an initial batch and then stopped making them. The expected sales must surely have been very small.

It is now included in the discontinued lenses on the official website, although is still listed in stock at a couple of places if you have nearly 5 grand to spend!

In just a year it has gone up from 3 grand but the sheer weight and size put me off at the time.

This was always a very niche lens for Pentax and I'm amazed anyone spent what it cost, especially as it's slow. The 150-450mm would be far more flexible, is a zoom, apparently has great IQ and is suitable for FF.

Right, so what we need now is a FF teleconverter to give us the same or longer focal length, really it cannot be that difficult and there must surely be a demand.

A 400mm f4 would be perfect, together with a 1.4TC for full frame. Fills a niche vacated by the 560, far more compact and fills a gap that I don't think other manufacturers (apart from Canon's DO lens) have filled....
