CS3 Save As problem

Maybe I'm wrong, but could it be that the image is layered, and you have to flatten it before saving as jpeg?

You're not in 16 bit mode are you? Or working perhaps in Lab colour?

What I mean by that is, I open a PSD image, edit image size to 72ppi and 600x400 pixels and click Ok ,then use the Save As, however the jpg option and quite a few other options appear to have dissapeared and the only way I can save it as a jpg is via the Save foe web option which I obviously wish to avoid.
Any help appreciated
