I have had problem with Gimp for long time already. Sometimes it works and sometimes it does not. Now, finally, I discovered the source of the problem. As soon as I have connected my laptop to tablet, Gimp stops working.
How can I make these two ones to fit?

Windows xp, Wacom Graphics Tablet, model PTZ-430

If you also have a HP scanner hooked up to the computer, the driver for the Wacom tablet will interfere with the driver of the scanner, unless you install a patch from HP on the scanner driver, so you might try to find out if there is not fix for your problem with the programs "designers", both Wacom and Gimp.

did you get the tablet new?
I'm asking because for as long as I can remember those tablets came with a disc that had some brushes, corel painter2, and Photoshop Elements....

which leads me to wonder....why bother with Gimp at all?

I bought a new Tablet. But without all what you mentioned. (I guess there are different possibilities with diff prices.)
So, no Elements etc.

Well Aiki, there never was a better time to switch parties
If you don't want to work on your pics, what do you need a graphics tablet for::
Now I'm confused...

Those programs only come with the "Bamboo Fun Pad". The more "advance" pads are coming with a driver only.

You'll have to check with the opensource gimp project to see if there's any fixes then...

Hi Aiki,

have you tried updating to the latest version of GIMP. It may well be a bug that has already been fixed, as you say the problem has been around for a while, and GIMP is updated on a fairly regular basis.

has a pretty good article, if you use a Wacom tablet.

Cheers
