The weekly competition, which started here on the forum before there was a gallery has always worked thus:
The winner of the week chooses the topic for the next week, and at the end of the week judges the entries. They are not allowed to enter themselves. It is very fair, and has never given any problems.

I don't quite understand your complaint.

Welcome to the forum btw.

I don't enter the competitions - for my own reasons but can see they are conducted in a fair way.

Can you suggests a better way to appoint a judge?

If it is the same people each time then they will never be allowed to enter. If it cycles through a group then there is a good chance someone will want to enter one, where there skills lie, on a judging week.

A person wins, then selects a subject, possibly one they know they can judge well, and then waits for a week without looking at entries or other comments.

Have you entered any? any links to your entries?

Have more than one judge or vote.

I believe there are some plans to do a competition with voting, don't know if it will happen or not.

I must say though that I always found the winners very good and always could find myself in the decision off the judge but sometimes I did like the number 2 or 3 better but we all have a different taste.

Unless we disqualify the winner of the previous comp (and I am not advocating that for a moment!), then what is to prevent that person's image being selected on merit?

And to attack a relatively new member, who in addition did a creditable job with the judging in my view, is unwarranted.

I find it a bit strange that a new member's first post is critical of the competitions, one of which he has yet to enter? Or is this an existing member logging in under a new name so they can complain anonymously?

Whatever your reasons, I don't see why someone picking the photo of the person who picked his own picture as a winner is unfair: the judge is free to choose whatever picture they like. This weeks winner is a worthy one, in my opinion. Where was your entry, Geoff?

Whatever your reasons, I don't see why someone winning twice in three weeks should be considered unfair: the judge is free to choose whatever picture they like. This weeks winner is a worthy one, in my opinion. Where was your entry, Geoff?

Al right last 4 weeks.

Judge GlynM winner Bill_And
Judge Bill_And winner nathanever82
Judge nathanever82 winner adi2410355
Judge adi2410355 winner nathanever82

So because the Adi wins Nathan comp and Adi thought Nathan was best in his comp there is a conspiracy?
Do you've any other prove besides that?

Adi is a new member and Nathan hasn't been active on the forum this year because he is busy so I very much doubt there is a friendship between them.

Well, jeff four zeroes, engaging in personal attacks is really going to get you support for your daft conspiracy theories. Where are your pictures, by the way, before you criticise anyone else's?

Why not go somewhere else? I don't think you are winning many friends here, and I don't think you will be missed.

And how do you stop biassed voting - everyone will vote for themselves so will that be productive? Who should get a vote and what will happen to the critique that is given?

I have just gone back over the last few winners and can see no pattern or cliques emerging.

Tell us EXACTLY what competition theme or judging has been incorrect, biassed, wrong or corrupt.
