Something isn't quite right with this. I can't understand why someone would make their first contributions to a forum in such a manner.

Jeff, I'm guessing you don't have much experience on internet forums? For example your first post in this thread - you could post something similar to that on any forum on the net and you will get torn to pieces by the forum regulars. It's just not a good way to make a first impression.
It's just like real life - if you walked into a stranger's house and immediately tore them to bits for their taste in furniture, you'd probably get thrown out.
The first rule of the internet forums is "don't write anything that you wouldn't be willing to say to someone's face". I'd like to see you walk up to a photographer in real life and tell him his photos are crap. I think very few would respond positively - most of them would just tell you to go an engage in an anatomically impossible act, and possibly punch you in the nose at the same time

I too have a sneaking suspicion that jeff0000 may already be on this site under a different name: should be relatively easy to work out by the bad grammar and spelling, but I think JR should be looking into this as it is getting pretty ridiculous.

I have looked at entries and results - I agree with some and disagree with others. There has NEVER been, in my opinion, a case where the winning entry has not been extremely good or one where a non-winning entry has stood head and shoulders above the rest.
I sometimes think I could enter my pictures for the competition and they would stand a very good chance - if I did and they did not win, I would not complain. I might ask others for more critique but I would not come out and blatantly accuse others of cheating.

I've locked this thread because it was getting way out of hand, and frankly I'm appalled at what's been written by people who should know better.
Jeff, occasionally the judge from one week awards the first place to the same person that awarded them first place the week before. Galoot and I have done it I beleive, but it purely down to the photo that the judge thought was best.
As Gwyn has pointed out, it's probably very rare that everyone agrees what photo should be the winner.
If, and that that's a very big if, Nathan was picked as the winner purely as a favour, it would be unfortunate, but a very rare event, and one that certainly doesn't happen every week, as your first post seemed to imply. In fact it's clear from a quick browse of the previous competitions that this doesn't happen.
Although you obviously have genuine feelings that this week's competition wasn't fair, I think the way you made your feelings known is the main cause of the reaction you got.
I'll be grateful (as a moderator) if everyone can moderate their own comments, think before you post. If someone's winding you up, just leave the thread. There's no need for this.
