I have a Cobra 700AF dedicated autofocus flash unit originally bought for the Z10 and I am wondering if it is safe to use on my K20 & K-7 also will it work in conjunction with the AF 360.

Please forgive if I am talking nonsense I am new to flash but want to spend the darker months coming to terms with them.

A search on Google for "Cobra 700AF trigger voltage" revealed that the voltage is 4.7v.

It is therefore safe to use, but if it was contemporaneous with the Z1, which is a TTL body, it won't work except in manual mode with the K7, and nor will it talk to the 360.

Thanks George. Back to the drawing board and unfortunately the bank account. Shame really as it has a fully rotating head and a thing for firing it remotely, still no good wishing I think it will have to go.

Don't discount using it in manual mode. Mounted on the camera, it could trigger the remote 360. I can't recall if the 360's slave sensor works in manual mode, but a cheapo trigger from Ebay will soon cure that. Or perhaps the Cobra has a slave built-in.

Using manual flash will teach you far more than automated flash will. Although I have just acquired an AF-540FGZ, I expect to continue to use manual flash mainly.

I am a total novice at 'flashing' so have a lot to learn, just ordered MattMatic's e-book so I hope to know more shortly. Will not do anything final until I understand what I am doing which may take most of the winter but it will keep me out of trouble.

Matt's ebook is very useful.

I can only afford older stuff too, so I'm having to learn to use fully manual flashes....adds to the fun really
Getting there! Thanks to you guys
