Good use of the hand, good also that you have avoided reflections off the glasses. The frames have caught some highlights, but that's not a problem. I do feel that the images are a little dull though. Perhaps they could be perked up with a bit more contrast. This would also improve the skin tones.

Thanks for the helpful comment John, I shot this (and other images) in RAW so have plenty to play about with, an opportunity to hone my photoshop/lightroom skills too

I agree with John - good portrait, but it lacks punch, in both versions.

I've had a quick play in Photoshop:


Duplicate Layer, Blur top layer, selectively erase blurred layer, fade top layer to taste, flatten, save.

Thanks for the demo John, I'll have to try that on some of the others, it certainly improved the skin. Will use my wife for the model but I can see her quickly getting bored
