I do like 'Pensive' but wonder if you should crop out the guy on the left?
'Rickshaw' has a lot going for it too.

One of my frequent dilemmas. Guy on left gives it context. but cropping him out gives a nice framing.I do like 'Pensive' but wonder if you should crop out the guy on the left?
great images aliengrove!! - My kind of photography
My only C&C is that I would try and shoot from a wider variety of perspectives and angles. Shots from the floor. shots held at arms length above your head, a few fish eyes, etc,etc
And I agree about the colour. Such a colourful place. Unlike most boring places in the UK

Street kids - Aliengrove - can you remember what the kid on the right hand side [ wearing white ] was looking at ? The girls were looking at you , the wee one at the back possibly was - but the little boy he's definitely not * puzzled*.
They are a great series - wonderful snapshots of life .

These are great. Very vibrant and a lot of emotion captured.
I really like Poor, Rickshaw and Street Kids. I think Pensive would be terrific with a little more of the second passenger. To lose him would I think detract from the image.

A wonderful collection Aliengrove. My favourite is 'Street Kids as' it's just lovely, but as others have said 'Poor' is a moving shot.

For me Pensive is 'the' shot here, but agree it could do with a crop to the left. If I'm going to be critical in my typical armchair photographer fashion, I'd say a few of these could do with zooming in / cropping in order to focus a little bit more on the subject and generally tighten up composition.
There's some life affirming human interest there, as well as bleakness. More smiles than I generally see on my lunchtime stroll in Leamington, that's for sure.

He was looking at a woman who shouted something just as I took the picture. A second earlier he was looking straight at me.Street kids - Aliengrove - can you remember what the kid on the right hand side [ wearing white ] was looking at ? Thanks for the comments, and the suggestions! I might try cropping "Pensive", Gareth and Greynolds; unfortunately the bus stopped ver briefly and I had a few seconds to grab the shot. I would prefer it if I had got more of the second guy in the shot. I have a similar shot with more of the bus in that I haven't processed yet.
I was quite pleased with the days shooting, and hope it's the start of some better street photography after many failed attempts!

Some nice stuff AG - definitely keep up the street shooting. What lens were you using, out of interest?
Re. Pensive - I can see why you kept the man to the left, but I think a crop that removes him and frames the main man in the window frame would probably work best.
And Poor seems somehow to be particularly harrowing in colour. B&W might take that edge of it and make it work better aesthetically. It's a pretty harsh image in colour, but then perhaps that's appropriate.

Hey Doc thanks for that. I like the other guy in Pensive, so against all advice I am going to keep him!
I have been looking at street photography a lot recently. Tim is, I think, the master here of the black and white, off the cuff street shot. CWyatt has an eye for a street shot that I think is quite rare. I love your stuff too, which is probably more the type of street photography I identify with. Typically, street photography is done with something around 35mm in full frame terms, and then converted to mono. I have recently decided to try out a different approach, using the Sigma 18-250, which I always have on the camera at work, purely for it's range.
All the shots on here were taken on my Sigma 18-250, which I have had a bit of a love-hate relationship with. I love the range, and the opportunities it gives me to quickly frame shots. I hate the fact that optically it is inferior to lenses not designed to the same greedy spec. Saying that, I think it outperforms the 18-55 WR at 18mm. It also has an ideal range at work. As it is my default lens at work, I have started leaving it on the camera when I arrive somewhere, and have recently found that with people, I can track them, frame the shot and and give myself more chance of catching something interesting. It's a bit like game photography, except it's people and their habitat rather than animals and theirs. I just wish it performed a bit better. But I will persevere with it until a better one comes along
