Just been offered a very good deal on a K1 body.. Shop used model with a 100 shutter count, 1100chf instead of 2200chf.. Can I use my K5 lenses on this without detrament to the pictures. The shop did mention I should buy some new lenses.. Or should I give it a miss, till I can afford a kit, with lenses..

Answer 1. All your current lenses can be used on the K1 in crop mode, where the K1 will just use an aps-c sized portion of the sensor. This may be useful to you if you cannot acquire FF lenses just yet.

Answer2. Some aps-c designated lenses can be used on the K1 in FF with no or little vignetting. Others cannot.

So the question back to you is what lenses do you have?

It should be possible to pick up some old manual or A series lenses which will take advantage of the larger sensor but won't offer the modern luxuries and may not be as sharp as modern glass. If it were me then I'd be quite happy with that until I could get some better lenses.

Or you could drill a small hole in the middle of the body-cap and have one of the more expensive pin-hole cameras about...

Give it a miss until you can get full frame lenses...!
If you use the K1 in crop mode with your existing lenses. Then you get a 14Mb image. Exactly the same as you now get with your k5.

Really?
1100 Swiss Francs instead of 2200.
Half price and a time limited offer (I presume)?
Even with the limitations (for now) of using the crop area, there will be wider ISO range, GPS, WIFI and don't forget improved autofocus!

That's probably the cheapest second hand price I've seen for the K-1, well worth it.

Lenses won't be a big issue. You can use crop mode but you'd be surprised how well many lenses work well in FF mode on the K-1. The DA 35 and 50mm lenses would be a great start to building up a good set of FF lenses, since they work very well on the K-1.
All the gear with no idea

Surely you’d just pick up some legacy glass?

Slap a cheap manual focus 50mm lens on and you’re away.

As always, depends what you want to take photos of.
