There are plenty of car chargers out there which do fit the K-5 battery - here's one from Amazon for instance. Do a quick Google and see what you come up with.

I have a universal charger which has a car attachment. I'm sure Hähnel do one too.

I got a car charger (Hong Kong) for my Pentax K10D batteries from Ebay £9...works perfect, maybe a tad slower than the AC one.

Nope, I got a Vivitar universal li-ion charger. Includes a car adapter and mains. Its a bit fiddly to get the terminals right but was £20 and I don't need to charge that often in the car.

You must go on very long car journeys

I got a reply from Hahnel that the Ultima II is not suitable for charging the D-Li90. I'll have a look at one of the cheaper chargers on Amazon.

It is something to be said in favour of cheap ebay batteries. You worry less when putting them in cheap chargers. Save your expensive Pentax batteries for Pentax chargers.

It seems you can't purchase a Pentax branded car charger. Unless I have missed it somewhere.

Yep, in fact at 5 quid a pop, why bother with a car charger? Just buy lots of spare batteries...

Car charger would make sense if you are on an extended tour or safari, but you may as well get a DC-AC inverter.

It is really inefficient to take the 12v and create 240v to plug in a charger that will take 3 hours to charge a single battery.

if you get the right universal charger it will charge in an hour (less if not fully depleted). It will be adjustable to fit a range of li-ion batteries, so you can also use it for your point and shoot (you will be taking a point and shoot too right).

You can gift it to someone when you leave as a thank you.

These universal chargers often take a range of voltages from 9-24v so you could probably use any suitable mains supply i.e. radio PSU, in situ. Just make sure the polarity is right and the current it will supply is sufficient. You'd save lugging the charger , the plug adapter, the PSU and the inverter halfway round the world.

You could just be going to Eastbourne.

Just checked the mains Pentax charger and it's auto voltage 100v-240v so you could take a risk on that to and just take the charger bit and leave the cable. The fig-8 mains cables are pretty universal.

Oh, I forgot, I also use mine to charge my spare phone battery. I suppose it would also do PDA etc batteries too. Anything with standard cells 3.6, 3.7. 7.2, 7.4V etc.
