Change out auto focusing screen replace with split screen

Hi Everyone,

I have an MZ-6. I was wondering if it was possible to change out the auto focusing screen and replace it with a split prism focusing screen? If this were at all possible, would the auto focus still be able to focus? Thanks.

As far as I am aware there were no Pentax made alternative screens for the MZ6.
It may be possible but I don't think it was not designed to be a user changeable item.

I actually find the MZ6 much easier to focus manually with my 'A' series lenses than the K10

Thanks. Basically I find it easier to manual focus with a split prism screen. The auto focus screen is a bit trickier. I wondered thought, that, if it did take a split prism screen I could get crisper shots when manually focusing.

I have a Super A and MES both with split screens and compared to them manual focussing with MZ6 screen does not come close. However I have been pretty happy with AF with FA series lens

You could try contacting Harrow Technical or Asahiphoto (both advertise on this forum and are based in the UK), those guys are likely to know If such a screen exists
