Cambois beach

Went out with the K5IIs again this morning. First time I've bothered going to Cambois beach. Here's a couple of shots with the 12-24mm and the 300mm. Any C&C welcome

Hi,

Never has a sewage outfall pipe looked so good. A week at Flamborough Head made me realise how precious such mornings are. Glad to see you don't waste them I think I want a 12 - 24 lens now.

with the sun rising inbetween the 2 uprights which i presume are wind turbines

As always with your beaches Alan, the sky colours are very special, and I've always loved the way you get the tones reflected in the water and frothy stuff. And again the exposure control is a great feature.

I don't find the quite odd placement of the ' sewage pipe' very compelling .... It sort of hangs onto the left side, and seems rather unbalancing to me, although its beautifully reproduced in tone and detail, I just feel it should have more central prominence.

I see the same pluses and minuses on the 2nd also ... Great colours and light balancing, but with the main object (I'm not saying'subject' ) a little squeezed over oh the left, and the bird doesn't help really ... Maybe if it had been left to fly across to the right side it would have been more supportive? ....

I'm not keen on the proliferation of wind turbines, but posting images like your second photo here, Alan, might change my attitude towards them! Great shot.

first image is the bomb

First shot works very well to draw the eye from the surf into the focal area of the image (sunrise). The pipe actually drops into the image as it enters higher than the horizon. As expected, the image is rich with the Wennington trademark colours.

Second image had me smiling as it's unofficially your first K5 IIs wildlife shot. I guess that you'll officially kick off the 5 IIs full colour/detail wildlife shots early in the New Year, when the right opportunity arises.

The compression effect is also put to very good use.

Excellent Alan. Its nearly a year since I was at Blyth, with a photo club assignment group, and I wish we had the light you've got here. You certainly put it to good use.

I do take on board Nigel's critique. Its a case of what you are photographing at the time.

I wasn't photographing the pipe. I was photographing light on a sea with breakers, with Blyth in the far distance. The pipe in this instance was the supporting cast.
For the turbine shot, I waited for the sun to rise so the bright area was top right. And for a wave to break in front of the turbine. The bird was a complete accident. As it happens I've got one where I think the wave is better, but this is outweighed by the accidental bird

I do like this camera.

I like them both, I think the composition of the first is spot on, the pipe on the left is balanced nicely by the turbine and land on the right.

Number one for me Alan but both shots are excellent as i would expect, lovely colours and detail.

I like them both, Alan, and think the pipe plays a very strong supporting role in the first. The colours, as ever, are wonderfully rendered.

And yes, the K-5 IIs is a brilliant piece of kit. I probably need to find another to keep in reserve, because at some point mine is certain to wilt through overuse.
