Cactus Wireless Flash Trigger System V4

Hi all,
As some of you know I try to put together a 'Mobile' but light flash system with 4x Metz 45 CT-1.

Now I got the Flash's and I ordered 4 stands from feeBay for £10 each I just be looking for a trigger system.

I came across the Cactus Wireless Flash Trigger System V4 (link) and it sounds just what I am looking for with a maximum range of 30m (90ft).

If I have to I could use an extra Hot-shoe that will have a sync port so I can use the cable of the 45 CT-1 to trigger the flash.

Has someone ever worked with this particular one? As I do not have a sync port for the flash system I probably will have to go down the wireless route but 30m (90ft) is the MINIMUM I need as I put flashes up on either side of an animal path and I may be a bit farther away in the hide so as farther the transmitter will go as better, but I never heard or seen the Cactus Wireless Flash Trigger System V4 so I just wondering if someone is familiar with it.

As always all comments, hints, tips and links are welcome.
Kind regards

I've a set and never had a problem with them except that the AF540FGZ doesn't want to work on them like it should but other flashes work without a problem.
I've contact the manufactures about that and they were most helpful and offer even a cash back but it's cheaper to buy a new flash then to buy new triggers so i did that.

I have a set as well. They are great value for money so perfect if you're just a hobbyist like me. But the reliability isn't perfect, I have had the occasional misfire or no-fire, so if I was a professional I might look into more expensive options. In my experience they are quite battery-sensitive, if the batteries are getting low the indicator lights will still work but the flash might not fire (this took me a while to figure out, so it may also explain my misfires)

My transmitter stopped working after a few months, but the vendor (Gadget Infinity) were very good about organising a replacement. (But I had to send it to Hong Kong, and wait for a return, so it took a while).

Edit: PS the replacement has worked fine since the replacement about 9 months ago.

Eek! I've been using professionaly a set of unbranded £9.99 ones off eBay from HK for about 4 years now but you've now pointed me to the one non-fire. It would have been easier to change the batteries than to run out miles, ok yards, of sync leads.

Ahhh glad I could help It was quite a head scratcher, I eventually figured out that with low batteries it would still fire, but only from a couple of feet away and only if everything was pointing in the right direction . With new batteries the range went back to normal and everything seems to work fine again.

Ok, so can I connect the normal PC cable that comes with the 45 CT-1 to the receiver directly or do I need an adapter???
Kind regards

The Cactus V4 use a 3.5 mm (1/8”) mono mini-phone, the same jacket you've with earphones.

Like said normally the Cactus V4 comes with a 3.5 mm male jacket to PC male jacket in the box, that one can be used i think.
Hopefully it's also in the secondhand set you're looking at.

The one I am looking at is 99p and its the only one there so no hiding behind a bush

I do like this one as well (link) because of some of the features (this one is the most interesting:
REPEATER MODE
Assume you are lighting a scene several hundred feet from your camera location. Position a CSR or CSRB midway between the camera and the scene and place it in repeater mode. When you fire the camera the repeater will receive the camera signal, then regenerate it for transmission to the more distant receivers. If a flash unit is connected to the repeater it will fire normally from the camera signal. The more distant flash units may also fire from the camera signal if they are close enough. If not, they will fire from the regenerated signal of the repeater.
Using a repeater delays the signal by an additional 1/4000 second. The resulting latency of 1/2000 second total is still fast enough to allow the camera exposure time to be set one click below the camera’s maximum sync speed in most uses. It is not generally advisable to use more than one repeater in a setup. If two repeaters are used and both receive the same transmission, both will regenerate at the same instant and interfere with one another.

I also like the price :arrow:NOT!!!!

Before I get buried in it, yes I know it is quality that I pay for etc, but its not for me at the moment unless someone has one for £40 incl two receivers that work and no longer wants. I even will sort out the pick-up via courier.
(Well, if I do not ask I do not get and you never know ????)
Kind regards

I guess I run out of luck here as I can not find a cable that can connect in any way to the 45 CT-1. I looked for a 3 way PC cable to the 45 and nothing. I looked for adapter cables, nothing.
The problem is that I can not see what connectors I need on the 45 CT-1 to find a workaround for this but spending £25.00 just to find out that it is not working is not an option either.
BUMP!

SORRY, WRONG THREAT FOR THIS ANSWER!!!

Many thanks for that. That looks like I can do something with that. Many thanks. Will have a look if I can find it here in the UK but at least I know what I am looking for.
Thank you
