The Pentax AF 540 very nice, but not cheap. The Metz 58 AF 1 has a USB socket for software updates and I have seen some good prices for this flashgun. I have recently purchased a Metz 50 AF 1 and although new to using flash I have found this unit simple to use in terms of basic flash settings and I think as my knowledge, skills and experience develops in relation to flash photography, I think it will provide me with a lot of creative scope. As
the Metz 58 AF 1 is more powerful and has additional features from the Metz 50 AF 1, I think it provides a hell of a lot of bang for buck. I have so much to learn and buy, and I have to make judgments on what I know, and as I am learning sometimes get it wrong. However I think I made a very good choice when I purchased the Metz 50 AF 1 and saved a few £s which I can now put towards new glass.
