2020 has been, for me at least a fabulous year for butterflies, with the opening (early May) and close (late August) marked by my first sightings of Green (Callophrys rubi; medium priority UK conservation status) and Brown (Thecla betulae; high priority UK conservation status) Hairstreaks respectively.

I know that such 'beasties' are not to everyone's liking, but these, to my tired old eyes, are just so appealing that I thought I couldn't resist sharing.

For both sets of images the camera used was my trusty K3 paired with an SMC Pentax-FA* 200mm F2.8 ED [IF] in the case of the Green and an IRIX 150mm F2.8 in the case of the Brown.

Finely captured details and well presented.

Best regards

How is the Irix 150mm for those of us who aren’t likely to get their hands on a FA* 200mm f2.8 any time soon?

You did well to spot the green one and even better to get such nice images. They are usually way up in the canopy!
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass
