Bulb mode on a K5

First of all, apologies if this is a daft question. I wanted to try photographing the night sky, but the bulb mode on my K5 appears operate only when the shutter button is held down, rather than one push on and a second push off. This can be rectified, I understand if I had a cable release, but not using an infra red remote.

Is there a simple setting in the camera's menu that I'm blind to/another solution/better get a cable release?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can straighten my crooked mind.

Custom menu 3 then 19 mate, set it to mode 1.
One day you'll find, 10yrs have got behind you.

Yes. Again you set it in the custom menu. Can't remember exactly where it is on the K20D though.

Thanks. Does this mean it is not possible to use one click open, one closed, except when using a remote? (Given that most of the time you should be using one)

Doesn't affect the button I'm afraid, but as you say, you should be using a remote in bulb anyway.
