Budget Prime?

I've just this minute placed my order for the DA 35mm F2.4 with SRS, after reading the reviews/user comments it looks like a complete no-brainer considering the price. I want a reasonably quick lens for occasional indoor use, (the only weak area of my DA 17-70) so I'm not really prepared to spend loads of cash on the lens, thanks Pentax for the ideal solution !!

good descision..
I used to say a fast fifty was a nobrainer....
now I believe the bargain 35 is something anybody with a Pentax digital should have. (unless you already got a ltd or macro in that 35 mm range.).

It is the fast fifty of the digital age - a sensibly priced, very sharp lens giving a useful field of view for day to day use. I now leave it on the camera unless I know I'll need something else.

Thanks for all your input and recommendations, I have finally plumped for the DA 35mm F2.4 and have to say after finding it somewhat alarmingly light weight, its optical quality is exceptional value for money and the K10d feels like its halved in weight!(Sigma 17-70mm work horse lens). Maybe Pentax will bring out more lenses like this.
I've also had the strange thought getting rid of my zooms and just having a range of prime lenses and thus adopting a more considered approach to photography.

But both have their positives and negatives
35 Limited
1. Oh so beautiful build quality. Small metal primes are so much better than modern plastic ones (35 F2.4 included) when it comes to tactility
2. More flexible, you have two lenses in one - walkabout and macro
3. Manual focus clutch in AF mode.
4. Still a very light lens
35 F2.4
1. Lighter than the limited
2. A LOT cheaper than the Limited
3. Faster (1/2 stop) than the limited.
4. Less likely to take time hunting in low contrast than the limited which will go the whole hog of lens movement due to macro, making it slower to hit the focus point in AF.
IQ is very close indeed between them.
So, which one? Depends on what your budget is, and whether having Macro as well.
I love my F2.4, and for the price, a bargain. But I fully understand those who prefer the Limited for its flexibility and build.
Best thing though is that you have a choice from Pentax for a change, and which ever you get, no matter what your budget and needs are, you are going to get an excellent little lens.
