I've been eying the Pentax lens prices from Microglobe.

The have the DA15 for £509.

Much cheaper the SRS or anyone.

Is it too good to be true?

Any experiences?

It's only 315 pounds from Adorama + del & VAT.

Makes you wonder what the ex-works price is, as that price is official Pentax US stock, imported by Pentax USA, sold to Adorama, sold to you.

Best regards

I bought my FA 50 1.4 from them for a good price about 18 months ago with no problem. The cheapest UK seller of DA15 I've spotted recently is ebay seller 'kerso' who has sold 2 at £449 BIN in the last couple of weeks. On both occasions the lens sold within hours of being listed. Worth keeping an eye open to see if he lists another.

I bought a lens from Microglobe five or six years ago and asked about the guarantee situation because of the "grey" import channels they used. They said they would handle any guarantee issues directly, which I took to mean they'd simply replace the lens. It arrived in good time and has worked flawlessly ever since (sadly not on a Pentax camera). I'd have no hesitation in buying from them again if the price was right, but SRS and others often beat them by a surprising amount.

I have used Microglobe several times, but only ever over the counter as opposed to by mail order. I have had no problems and they have a lot of stuff which is often competitively priced. It is true to say, however, that their website is not always totally up-to-date (in my experience). Best bet is to either ring them up or drop in if you are in the vicinity. It always reminds me of Arkwright's shop in Open All Hours - stuffed shelves and stuff piled up and a couple of chaps who rifle through the piles of boxes to find what you are looking for...

Kerso's stuff is imported from the USA to his sisters house in Scotland and then sent on from there. He does mainly Canon gear (and does very very well out of it) but has started to do a bit of Pentax now.

He gives you a UK VAT invoice which shows the duty has been paid so Pentax should honour any warranty issues.

He does a lot of business on another (mainly Canon/Nikon forum) and if you buy from there will do a slightly cheaper price.

Nice bloke actually.
