Becuase they always do that! ABC Cameras advertise in magazines, but things are frequently more expensive when you look at their website!

I wonder why the moderaters allow them to advertise on the forum???

You are perfectly in your rights to approach Microglobe and say that you want the lens for the price it is advertised.

I did that once with a tripod head (not with microglobe) and they honoured it. They tried to state that it was a mistake but I was I wasn't having it.
Good bargain for me

Paul, cheers for comment.
I wouldn't buy it from them on principal though.

...quite so, however the retailer has no obligation to sell at the advertised price and can say NO. It may seem odd, but under UK law, any advertised price is simply 'an invitation' to buy and not a contract. The retailer can refuse to sell any item at the advertised price.

cheers Steve.

I understood the retailer could refuse to sell at an advertised price and remove it from sale, but could not ask for a higher price.

I understand the item has to be removed from sale for 24 hours, but I really don't know who could monitor that.

That is what I should have said. The ads by Google is an option to create revenue for the site. This helps towards the running costs, without the ads members may have to pay a subscription charge to pay for the upkeep of the site.
