Bonfire Night

Posted 12/11/2017 - 20:33 Link
Have ummed and ahhed about posting these, as I thought Gareth's fireworks shots of Barry Island were superb and pretty definitive. But I thought these were probably differentiated enough... so... I took my camera out in the local park with the family on Bonfire night, with a view to seeing what might happen on the ICM/In Camera Multiple Exposure front... I've tried ICM/ICME with fire before, and thought there was some potential worth exploring... all handheld, K1, DFA 24-70... the in camera multiple exposures are between 3 and 20 shots each, mostly using the bright blend engine on the K1, and with a fair bit of ICM thrown into the mix too...

I'm always going to enjoy work like this, very interesting and enjoyable set.
On a technical note No.8. Would I be right in guessing there is an out of focus shot included in the stack? I quite often enjoy the in camera multi exposure, often playing with the zoom within a stack and I quite often take out of focus photographs but, I'd never thought to combine focused an unfocused shots in a stack. I might be having a play with this, thank you for the idea.
I've gone through again to pick my favourites but have to say, I enjoy them as a set.

Thanks Michael, Nigel and Stuart for faves and kind words... much appreciated my end...

Nigel, yes, well spotted... there are a couple of defocussed frames in 8... about 9 frames in the shot in all... I often include a couple of defocussed frames to soften the background (or foreground), but in this particular case it had the opposite effect due to the point light source (which was a welcome surprise at the time)...

Stuart... thanks for your thoughts... yes, it was the atmosphere I was after... specifically a way to photographically represent the flickering light...

Thanks and best

I love it when people try something new, it makes little light bulbs go off in your head,
I do like these,
1, 8 and 11 for me, love the sinister feel to no1, really suits the Halloween / bonfire night theme a perfect match.
Great shooting.

1, 8, and 11 for me. The set as a whole is strong that works well together.

Is it me, but does anyone else see human forms in the opening image?
